What Is Craniosacral Therapy? Understanding This Gentle Approach to Nervous System Regulation
Sometimes the body doesn't need more force—it needs an opportunity to slow down.
Craniosacral Therapy is a gentle, light-touch approach that works with the body's natural rhythms and can support relaxation, nervous system regulation, and a deeper sense of ease.
At Inner Spring Wellness, I use Craniosacral Therapy as part of a personalized approach to help the body release tension and move toward greater balance and restoration.
What Is Craniosacral Therapy?
Craniosacral Therapy is a gentle form of bodywork that uses light touch to work with the structures and rhythms of the body, particularly around the head, spine, and sacrum.
Rather than manipulating the body forcefully, the intention is to create a quiet environment where the nervous system can settle and the body can begin to release patterns of tension.
Many people find the experience deeply calming and restorative.
The Nervous System and Stress
Our nervous system is constantly responding to our environment and experiences.
Stress, emotional overwhelm, physical discomfort, busy schedules, and lack of rest can all contribute to a body that feels like it is constantly “on.”
Craniosacral Therapy can provide an opportunity to pause and shift toward a more relaxed state.
When the nervous system feels safer and more regulated, the body may have greater capacity for rest, restoration, and healing.
What Does a Session Feel Like?
Craniosacral Therapy is performed with the client comfortably lying down, fully clothed.
The touch is gentle and subtle. Some people experience a deep sense of relaxation, while others notice changes in breathing, muscle tension, or simply a feeling of quiet within the body.
Every person experiences treatment differently, and there is no particular sensation you need to experience for a session to be beneficial.
Craniosacral Therapy at Inner Spring Wellness
I often incorporate Craniosacral Therapy into a larger treatment approach depending on what you are experiencing.
It may be used on its own or combined with acupuncture, Reiki, myofascial release, cupping, or other therapies.
Because every person is different, I take time to listen and understand what your body is communicating before deciding what approach may be most supportive.
Creating Space for the Body to Reset
Healing doesn't always require doing more.
Sometimes the most supportive thing we can offer the body is space to slow down, soften, and reconnect.
Craniosacral Therapy offers a gentle opportunity to step away from the constant demands of everyday life and give your nervous system a chance to settle.
At Inner Spring Wellness, my intention is to create a safe, compassionate space where you can relax, reconnect with your body, and move toward greater balance and well-being.
